I am so lucky to find great teaching colleagues at every school that I work at! One of my lovely colleagues was kind enough to pass on this document to me from a PD session she attended the day that I supplied for her. This document contains links to many useful math websites that can be incorporated into lessons, or your daily math routine. Hope that you enjoy discovering some of these resources, just as I did!
I pulled this graphic from the slides of one of the OTF Connects webinars that I participated in recently. I loved the concrete examples given in this chart for what "rich talk" during literacy lessons can sound like. What are some lessons that you have used/created to encourage "rich talk" in your classroom? This post is for all occasional teachers who are on the hunt for the mythical "perfect" boot for winter yard duties (aka - all occasional teachers). You may be interested to read this article and the corresponding study from the Toronto Rehab Health Network; they tested causal and safety boots on ice. I think some of you will be surprised which brands stood up to the test! Definitely check this study out before you go to the store to look for yard duty boots! Above, is my favourite quote from the most recent OTF Connects PD webinar that I participated in. I love how the moderator focused on the importance of creating math lessons that incorporate everyday math challenges! It was refreshing to hear the many creative ways that we, as teachers, can do this rather than teach from a textbook. Check out my notes from the session below, for more inspiring messages and ideas! |
